• War veteran killed outside his Malden skateboard shop

MALDEN (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) — A U.S. Marine who served in Iraq and Afghanistan was killed in a shooting on Main Street in Malden on Tuesday afternoon.

The Middlesex District Attorney's office identified the victim as 39-year-old Shawn Clark, of Saugus.

Investigators responded to Patriot Skateboard located at 804 Main Street at about 12:45 p.m. to find Clark suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

A source close to the investigation told FOX 25's Bob Ward that it appeared Clark was the victim of a robbery gone wrong.

Residents tell reporters that Clark owned the skateboard shop where the shooting took place. The manager of a nearby store tells the Boston Globe he saw two men running down a side street as he was driving up Main Street. He says he then found Clark lying on the ground.

Police are investigating the fatal shooting. No one has been charged at this time.

Clark is survived by his wife and two young sons.

Anyone with information regarding Clark's death should contact Massachusetts State Police at 781-897-6600 or Malden Police at 781-397-7171.
