Waltham fifth-grader up for scholarship, needs community votes

WALTHAM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A local fifth-grade school student needs the public's help in order to advance to the next round of a Dr. Seuss scholarship competition.

Sebastian Connelly, an 11-year-old math-wiz from Northeast Elementary School, placed in the top 2-percent in a worldwide math competition, according to Wicked Local.

Sebastian is in the running to win a $10,000 scholarship award, which is the grand prize of the entire competition, but is also eligible to with a $5,000 scholarship if he wins in his specific math category.

The first round of the competition is based on community votes. The second is based on merit.
