WAKEFIELD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Wakefield police officer was hit by a car while working traffic detail Wednesday morning.
The injuried officer has been identified as Joseph Conway, a 38-year veteran of the police force.
Police say Conway was directing traffic at about 7:15 a.m. near the intersection of North Avenue and Main Street when he was hit by a 2011 Honda Pilot driven by a 39-year-old man from Stoneham.
Conway was treated on-scene and then transported to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. His injuries are considered non-life threatening.
The driver was not injured and has not been charged. Investigators have not said whether or not they plan to charge him.
