Viral: Soccer keeper scores on himself

Before we dive into this one I want to put something on the record. When I played soccer in high school I never, ever wanted to play keeper – it was way too much pressure. I can't even imagine playing the position in a professional league.

That said, here's a pro tip should you ever find yourself playing keeper in any league: Don't throw the ball into your own net.

Radu Matu, keeper for FC Milsami in Moldova's A League, learned that one the hard way last week.

After stopping a long shot from going out of bounds, Matu attempts to throw the ball to a teammate, appears to decide against it, tries to stop his throw and manages to pitch the ball into his own net.

According to NESN.com, the 18-year-old Matu was making his professional debut for the club. Milsami went on to lose 2-1.

There is an upside to all this: Had he not scored against himself, the game would have likely ended in a 1-1 tie. A tie, as we all know, is like kissing your sister. So at least there's that.
