VIDEO: Skateboarder slams into deer at 40 mph

(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A skateboarder was racing down a mountainous course in Golden, Colo., when a deer came out of nowhere and hit him.

Skateboarder Ryan Vitale and other racers were going about 40 miles per hour, taking part in the 2012 Buffalo Bill Downhill Bloodspill over the weekend when it happened.

The video shows the skateboarders speeding down the road. That's when a deer comes sprinting alongside and rams right into Vitale. Another skater, Mike Paproski, captured the crash on video.

The video went viral after being posted on YouTube. It now has more than 500,000 views.

Vitale suffered some bumps and bruises, but no broken bones.

The deer apparently survived.
