Victim testifies in front of accused rapists in Snapchat assault trial

SALEM, Mass. — A teenager whose assault was posted on Snapchat faced those accused of raping of her in court Thursday.

"I really thought those people were my true friends,” she said.

The 18-year-old Saugus woman was upset and at times defensive describing what she remembered of the alleged incident.

In September of 2014 , the teen said she had taken pills and was already very intoxicated when she met up with Tashad Deihim and Kailyn Bonia.

She had a large bottle of vodka in her purse so they could drink in the woods behind Way Bright Elementary School.

"I remember KK (Kailyn Bonia) going, like this to my hair and trying to make out with me, and I was like, ‘I know what you're doing.' That's all I remember. That was my last legit memory,” she testified.

She told the jury she knew Deihim and Tim Cyckowski, but had only met Bonia a few times. Timothy Cyckowski pleaded guilty to uploading the rape to the app and is not part of the trial.

She said she remember of pieces of when it turned to a sexual encounter, with Cyckowski recording them and posting it to Snapchat.

“I remember saying 'stop taking pictures of me.' I was naked and I was getting flashes. I remember saying like 'stop. I don't understand what's going on,’” she said.

Lawyers for Deihim and Bonia argued the sex had been consensual. Prosecutor Kate MacDougall argued the then 16-year-old girl was so intoxicated she couldn't give consent.

Emergency room doctor Phyllis Chen told the jury the teen had to be given Narcan twice, came to the hospital covered in dirt and grass and was almost unconscious.

The victim said she was so traumatized by the incident she turned to drugs and even tried to recant her story in a letter to the court last year.

The judge ruled in court Thursday that Snapchat video recovered from the company cannot be used in the trial.

Tim Cyckowski also cannot be compelled to testify because it would violate his 5th amendment right against self incrimination.
