LOWELL, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Two burned slides are at the center of a vandalism investigation at Shedd Park in Lowell.

The fire department responded to the playground in Lowell's Lower Belvidere neighborhood Thursday at about 9 p.m. to put out the fire, reports the Lowell Sun.

Police Chief Capt Kelly Richardson said that a dark colored, older model vehicle, possibly a Pontiac Grand Prix, was seen leaving the area around the time of the incident.

The newspaper notes that a portion of the playground in the park has been blocked off due to the damage to the slides.
