Unsolved: Police renew calls for attention to possible Worcester serial killer

WORRCESTER, Mass. — Police are renewing their push for help 12 years after a Worcester woman was murdered and her body turned up York, Maine.

Wendy Morello’s body was found stuffed into a trash container, and there’s concern she fell victim to a serial killer.

Morello was a mother of two, but her life had spiraled into a world of heroin abuse and prostitution.

She was last seen alive in the Main South area of Worcester, an area where three other women were last seen before their deaths.

Maine State Police have consistently said they believe Wendy was murdered elsewhere and dumped in Maine, but because of where she was found, it is their case.

FOX25 talked to Wendy's father and daughter. They are happy that Wendy's case is getting a new look and next week they have a meeting set up with Maine State Police to discuss the case.

“All we want is justice for my mother,” Amanda Morello said. “I’m feeling a new sense of hope and maybe something better is going to come out of this.”

Wendy’s father Leo Lavalle said he had tried to save her from the streets.

“Wendy was out on the street a long time, a long time. I waited for that call for twenty years, I waited for that call to come,” he said.

Her family hopes, with new attention, there could soon be a break.

“That would be the best to finally get closure, get a good night’s sleep, and know she is at peace.”
