MASHPEE, Mass. — A girl walking along a Mashpee road was seriously injured Saturday when she was hit by an unsecured flotation device that few off a boat being towed by a truck.
Mashpee police said around 4:40 p.m. a pickup truck left the Mashpee Neck Boat Ramp and was headed east on Mashpee Neck Road when a flotation device inside the boat became unsecured and flew out of the back of the boat.
The object then hit a juvenile female walking on the side of the road.

She suffered serious injuries and was flown Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Rhode Island to be treated.
Her condition is currently unknown.
The unidentified driver of the truck was cited for operating with an unsecured load.
The incident is still under investigation.
