UMass-Amherst student found dead in dorm room

AMHERST, Mass. (AP) — Officials at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst say a 19-year-old sophomore was found dead in his campus dorm room, and foul play is not suspected.

Spokesman Ed Blaguszewski said campus police found Evan Jones, of Milton, in his fourth-floor room of Washington Tower around 1 p.m. Saturday.

Blaguszewski said the state medical examiner's office will perform an autopsy, however, UMass-Amherst police do not suspect foul play.

Blaguszewski said the university is providing counseling to residents of Washington Tower and other students, faculty and staff.
