UMass student hit, killed by car

AMHERST, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A UMass Amherst student, about to enter her senior year, was hit and killed by a car Thursday.

At about 11 p.m., the engineering student, Hannah B. Frilot, 20, was walking along North East Street with a friend when she was hit by a Toyota RAV-4, according to the Boston Globe. Frilot was pronounced dead on the scene and her friend was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The 63-year-old woman who was driving the car, called police. She is not facing any charges.

“The campus community is saddened by this tragedy and our thoughts and prayers are with family and friends,” Executive Director of News and Media Relations for the university Ed Blaguszewski said.
