Two men held without bail in deadly shooting at Boston MBTA station

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Two men are being held without bail in the shooting death of another man at the Dudley Square MBTA station.

Brian Cooper, 25, of Mattapan, and Jamel Bannister, 22, of Dorchester, were arraigned on murder and firearms charges Friday in Roxbury District Court.

Police said the victim, 26-year-old Courtney Jackson, was shot at the station and stumbled onto a bus around 10 p.m. Thursday in Roxbury. He was taken to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said there were about 50 witnesses to the shooting, including a nearby police officer working a detail. That officer gave chase and arrested Cooper and Bannister moments after the shooting.

Police were reportedly able to recover the weapon nearby.

The Dudley Square station was shut down while police combed through evidence, but has since reopened.

No possible motive was disclosed.

Cooper and Bannister are due back in court on April 1.
