Two buses hit by BB gun in Haverhill

HAVERHILL (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – Police in Haverhill says someone is shooting pellets at school buses full of kids. Friday morning, officers were on the buses, too, for protection.

In two separate incidences, Haverhill police say someone shot at buses taking kids to and from school.

The first bus was struck around 11 a.m. on Main Street. It was carrying 25 preschool students. Police say a little boy was in a car seat under the window hit and was covered in glass.

The second bus was driving high school kids home when glass shattered above two girls in the seat below. The scene was only a mile away from the first one.

Investigators believe the suspect used a BB gun and may have fired it from a passing car. Parents say something needs to be done.

One high schooler was treated for a minor cut, but there were no other injuries.

Police believe the shootings are connected and say, given the national tragedy in Connecticut, this is no time for pranks.

Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to call Haverhill police at 978-373-1212.
