BARNSTABLE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) –Two people were arrested Tuesday in connection with an armed robbery in Barnstable.
On Monday, police responded to Pizza 1 Subs 2 in Marstons Mills for the report of an armed robbery. During the robbery, a masked man entered the eatery, threatened an employee with a knife and demanded cash. He then climbed onto the counter and removed cash from the register, officials say. The employee working ran to the back of the business and told her co-workers, including Kathleen Lehane, 26, of Cotuit, what was happening.
The next day, police learned that Lehane may have been involved in the robbery. After a long interview with her, police discovered a conspiracy between Lehane and Travis French, 28, of Centerville to stage the robbery while Lehane was working. The plan did not work out as planned and French arrived later than scheduled so Lehane was not at the counter. That led to French robbing the uninvolved 21-year-old woman who was working at the register. About $400 was taken, police say.
Both Lehane and French were arrested and charged with armed robbery while masked. They were arraigned Wednesday morning. French's bail was set at $15,000 and Lehane's was set at $5,000.
The investigation remains ongoing and police anticipate another arrest.
