Two arrested in alleged plot to rob woman in Tewksbury

TEWKSBURY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A woman and man were arrested Sunday evening after police say they conspired  to rob a woman of her purse.

At around 5:20 p.m., Tewksbury police officers responded to the area outside Staples at 10 Main St. where a woman reported another woman tried to rob her.

The victim said she was attacked by a woman in the store's parking lot, and that the woman brandished a knife as she tried to steal the woman's purse. The victim yelled for help, and bystanders rushed to help her, police said, as she held on to her purse.

The female attacker then ran to a nearby vehicle that was waiting for her, and it drove away. Witnesses who helped the victim were able to take down the getaway car's license plate number, and police were able to track the car to Billerica shortly afterwards.

Tewksbury police officers arrested 25-year-old Erica Marsh, of Billerica, and charged her with armed assault with intent to rob, and arrested John Torres, 27, of Chelmsford, charging him with conspiracy.

Both Marsh and Torres were scheduled to be arraigned in Lowell District Court on Monday.
