Two arrested after woman thrown from car in Merrimac

MERRIMAC, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Massachusetts State Police said two men were arrested after a woman was thrown from a moving car on Interstate 495 in Merrimac Sunday.

Police said the vehicle was traveling on the northbound side of the highway at about 3:30 p.m. when the incident occurred.

An off-duty police officer who saw the incident called State Police and was able to give officers a description and location of the vehicle which allowed them to stop it on the southbound side of the highway a short time later.

Henry Matos, 45, of Lawrence, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol. Moises Matos, 43, of Lawrence, was taken into protective custody.

The woman was not identified. Police said she was taken to Anna Jacques Hospital with serious injuries before being flown to Boston by medical helicopter.

It was not immediately known why the woman was thrown from the vehicle.
