Twitter account draws scrutiny of UNH administrators, police

DURHAM, NH (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Twitter account asking for pictures of overly drunk University of New Hampshire students has caught the attention of administrators and police.

The account, @UNHblackout asks, "Do your friends enjoy blacking out? Does your liver hate you?"

The site has over 3,300 followers. It retweets photos people send them of their friends passed out and binge drinking.

UNH officials released a statement to FOX 25 on Tuesday saying they are disturbed by the Twitter account.

"UNH is aware of such online sites, reads the statement. "We regularly encourage and educate our students to be safe and smart online, and are disturbed by websites that in any way glorify alcohol or drug use. Any criminal behavior will be investigated if brought to the attention of the UNH Police Department."

Durham police tell seacoastonline.com that sites like this create and encourage unsafe behavior. They also say 60-percent of those arrested in Durham have ties to UNH.
