One person is dead after a truck drove off the road and into a driveway in Canton on Saturday morning, police say.

Canton Police received a call at around 11:15 a.m. for a motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, officers found a 2016 white pick-up truck that had steered off the road and crossed over to the lawns of 145 and 147 on High Street.

The truck struck a pedestrian who was in the driveway at the time, causing serious injuries.

The victim has been identified as Ralph Hawkins, 76, of Canton.

Hawkins was transported to Boston Medical Center, but was pronounced dead later in the day. The driver was not injured.

Hawkins was standing on a neighbor's driveway helping another family when the pick-up truck, driven by a 48-year-old Stoughton man, barreled down High Street.

"He was over looking at the battery on my neighbors' – their daughter's car," said one neighbor. "And he was in the driveway, the car – the truck – came across the front yard, and there he was."

Neighbors say Hawkins leaves behind his longtime girlfriend, who they say was home at the time of the accident.

No charges have been filed yet.

Massachusetts State Police and the Norfolk District Attorney's office are currently investigating this incident.
