Truck out of water after rolling off Expressway in Dorchester

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – A dump truck rolled off Interstate 93 and into the water near the Dorchester Yacht Club backing up traffic through the afternoon.

Video from SkyFox showed the truck on its side in the water as crews worked to pull it back onto the roadway. The driver sustained a minor injury.

A noticeable sheen of oil could be seen spreading from the truck into the water. The U.S. Coast Guard, Dept. of Environmental Protection and Clean Harbors were working to clean up the oil spill.

At around 2:45 p.m., the truck crested over the embankment as multiple tow trucks pulled it out of the water.

According to Boston Fire, Clean Harbors was draining the truck's fuel tank before its final move onto land. A tweet from the fire department stated that for the most part, the fluids the truck spilled brake, transmission and hydraulic, and not diesel fuel.

Boston Fire tweeted the truck belonged to Mobile Excavating out of Medway. They said it had noticeable damage to the front left tire.

Three lanes of the Expressway were closed as crews worked to get the truck back on the road. It took hours before the scene was finally cleared and the highway reopened, which happened at around 7 p.m.
