Truck hits fallen tree in Weston

WESTON, Mass. — A pickup truck smashed into a tree that fell across Route 117 in Weston Friday afternoon.

“I can’t imagine… one minute you’re driving home and the next minute there’s a tree on top of you,” said Ara Tahmassian.

Tahmassian lives just across the street and can’t believe what happened.

Weston police say that the male driver and his female passenger were injured and taken by ambulance to the hospital. Their injuries are reportedly not serious.

Tahmassian says if he weren’t stuck in traffic, this could have been him.

Tahmassian and his neighbors are concerned that more trees, like the pine that fell along Route 117, could come down.

“But you never know with these pines, they’re weak trees and they’re gonna come down at some point,” said Neighbor Mark Clenons.

It’s not clear why this tree came down, but neighbors are hoping Eversource, which provides power here can cut back some of them.
