AUBURN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A tractor trailer hauling 39,000 pounds of frozen fish was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Route 290 in Auburn Wednesday morning.
Mass. State Police troopers responded to the crash, which occurred on Route 290 eastbound, prior to the Massachusetts Turnpike at about 4:55 a.m.
The trailer, for reasons still under investigation, separated from the tractor causing the crash, troopers said.
The truck sustained extensive damage, but the driver was not injured.
Authorities were forced to close much of the highway during the morning commute because the trailer had to be off-loaded by hand.
