Troopers arrest man in Newburyport after car chase

NEWBURYPORT, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Tuesday morning Massachusetts State Police Troopers arrested a man after a long car chase.

Around 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, New Hampshire State Police alerted Massachusetts State Police of a motor vehicle pursuit on I-95 southbound in New Hampshire.  The vehicle eventually made its way to Newburyport, MA where there has been ongoing road construction.

The state troopers assigned to a construction detail nearby attempted to stop the suspect vehicle.  The operator refused to stop and quickly spun out, losing control of the vehicle.

The 32-year-old man, Nicholas Cammann, of Aquinnah, Mass., quickly left his car and fled the scene on foot, police said.  A short foot chase ensued until the troopers caught up to the man.

The suspect was taken to the State Police Barracks for processing and is currently charged in Massachusetts with failure to stop for police and resisting arrest.

Both the Massachusetts State Police and the New Hampshire State Police are continuing the investigation that surrounds this incident.
