Trial date scheduled in State Police sergeant's death

FALL RIVER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A trial date was scheduled this week for two drivers accused of vehicular homicide in a June 2010 crash that killed State Police Sgt. Douglas Weddleton.

According to the Enterprise, a June 9 trial date has been set for Kenneth Weiand, of Walpole, and Anthony Perry Jr., of Hyde Park. The trial will take place in the Fall River Justice Center.

Weddleton, 52, of Brockton, was working road construction detail on Route 95 northbound near exit 6 when the fatal crash occurred. The 52-year-old stopped Weiand after he reportedly tried to drive around Weddleton's cruiser, which was blocking the off-ramp. Investigators say Weddleton was hit by a Ford pickup truck driven by Perry as he approached Weiand's car.

Both men are accused of driving under the influence and driving negligently at the time of the crash.
