Falling tree limb kills child during snow storm

A 6-year-old has passed away after being hit in the head with a tree branch in her backyard, the child's family told FOX25.

CANTON, Mass. — Kaleigh Kenyon, her father, and brother were playing in the backyard in the snow when she asked her dad about building a snowman.

“The next thing I know a tree broke and fell on her and him and I ran at it and, tried to lift her out of there and almost couldn’t,” Kaleigh’s brother told FOX25.

When an ambulance arrived to the home on Indian Lane, she was still unconscious. She had a pulse, but her aunt told FOX25's Christine McCarthy it was "shallow."

The girl was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, where she later died.

Heavy wet snow was causing limbs to break all over Massachusetts. Canton Police asked that people stay inside away from falling trees, branches and power lines. They are especially urging parents to keep children away from trees.

Later Friday night a second person in Canton was killed when a tree branch snapped and fell on him.
