NEWTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Roslindale man was seriously injured in a crash on Route 9 in Newton Monday.
Officials say 24-year-old Jacob Griswold's pickup truck collided with a tractor-trailer just before 7 a.m. on Route 9 eastbound near the 200 block by the Chestnut Hill Mall. Video from the scene showed the truck lodged underneath the tractor-trailer.
After emergency crews failed to make contact with Griswold, Newton firefighters were able to extricate him from the vehicle. He was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
The tractor-trailer driver, identified as 34-year-old Jarrod Morin, of Barre, was not injured in the crash.
Drivers were diverted from Route 9 westbound onto Hammond Pond Parkway during cleanup.
The crash remains under investigation by Mass. State Police.
