Tires found slashed on Bourne Police Department vehicles

BOURNE, Mass. — Tires on four personal vehicles belonging to members of the Bourne Police Department were slashed this week.

Police said that the crew working the midnight shift on July 17 walked to their vehicles to head home and found their tires slashed.

In total, four cars were affected and seven tires cut with a blade.

"There's no reason for, whatever your grievance is there are adult ways to handle that," said Lt. Brandon Esip.

Officers had to wait for tow trucks to remove their cars so they could get them repaired.

"This message is directed to those few scoundrels that like to hide in the shadows and cause damage and destruction. Just realize, while your actions may have caused a hiccup in the daily schedule of these fine officers, they will be back at work at the start of their next shift, still out their patrolling and protecting," said Bourne Police Department on its Facebook page.

Police said they are investigating and reviewing surveillance video. They are also considering upgrading security at the station.
