Thursday temps in the 40s, rain likely for Friday night commute

From FOX 25 meteorologist Shiri Spear

Balmy and blustery to start Thursday! Temperature readings in the upper 30s to lower 40s were common before dawn Thursday. Though it certainly felt nice in protected areas, exposed spots were at the mercy of gusty winds.

Gusts to 40 mph were reported early morning. Gusts at or over 30 mph will remain possible though the afternoon. The strongest reports will likely roll in during the morning.

High pressure will bring ample sunshine to southern New England. Highs will peak in the mid 40s, which means thermometers will budge very little today. With a forecasted high of 46 degrees in Boston, that would put Thursday's highs 10 degrees above average!

Winds will diminish tonight as temps drop into the 20s and 30s. Friday will bring highs in the middle 40s to the region again.  Plan on increasing clouds and developing late showers. Rain drops will probably start to fall during the evening commute and continue on/off overnight.

Although a few icy patches may develop early Saturday, they'll melt in a jiff. Highs this weekend will be in the 50s!
