3 Mass. State Police troopers suspended during weapons investigation

BOSTON — Three members of the Massachusetts State Police have been suspended after an investigation into the transfer of surplus weapons to a state-authorized vendor.

FOX25 has learned that two troopers and one lieutenant who worked in the armorer’s section are not being paid while the investigation proceeds.

Thursday night state police confirmed the information for FOX25.

"The Massachusetts State Police have opened an internal investigation into three department members who were assigned to the department's armory. The investigation is reviewing the transfer of a limited number of surplus weapons to a state-authorized vendor,” Director of Media Relations for the Massachusetts State Police Dave Procopi said. “The three department members have been suspended without pay indefinitely as the investigation proceeds."

MSP has asked the Attorney General to review the case and see if criminal charges are warranted.

FOX25 has obtained the names of the three troopers from a source, but is not releasing them until there is additional verification.
