Three buildings impacted by fire in Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A multi-alarm fire at a building on Merrimack Street in Lowell spread to two other buildings Saturday.

The fire broke out at about 2 p.m. inside 151 East Merrimack Street. Smoke and flames could be seen coming from the roof of the building.

Power was cut to the neighborhood as crews battled the blaze that jumped to two other buildings.

The American Red Cross was called to the scene. They say the first floor of 151 Merrimack Street is commercial space, but there are residences above it. There was no one living in them.

There are three apartments in each of the two other buildings impacted by the fire. The Red Cross is assisting the occupants of those apartments.
