The Obama family returns to the Vineyard

EDGARTOWN, Mass. (AP) - President Barack Obama has arrived on Martha's Vineyard for summer vacation with his wife and daughters.

Obama and first lady Michelle Obama landed on the Massachusetts island on Saturday afternoon. They flew from Orlando, Fla., where they both spoke at a national convention of disabled veterans.

The first summer vacation of Obama's second term brings him back to the place where he vacationed in each of the first three years of his presidency.

The president skipped Martha's Vineyard during last year's re-election campaign.

Obama will spend all or part of nine days on the island.

The president plans no official public appearances during the vacation. He's due back in Washington a week from Sunday.
