Teens arrested for snack bar fire at Hyannis field

HYANNIS (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – Police have arrested three suspects accused of starting a fire that burned down the announcer's booth at Marshall J. Lopes Field in Hyannis.

Barnstable Police responded to a structure fire at Marshall J. Lopes Field located at 365 Old Colony Rd. around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Upon arrival, police found a two-story snack bar/storage shed adjacent to the field that was on fire.

Witnesses told police that two males and a female were seen fleeing the scene moments after the fire started.

Police located the three suspects on Main Street. One of the males was not wearing any shoes.

The suspects later confessed to illegally entering the building on the prior evening and starting the fire from a discarded match.

One of the officers recognized the two of the suspects as the male and female that had recently been caught on video using a stolen credit card on Nov. 3 at several Hyannis businesses.

When confronted with the evidence, the suspects confessed to using the stolen card.

Katie Lennon, 17, of Mashpee, and Ivan Parker, 18, also from Mashpee, were charged with breaking and entering with the intent to commit a felony, burning personal property, unlawful use of a credit card, larceny of property, and forgery.

Parker has been arrested three times in the last six days for additional crimes ranging from shoplifting to assault with a knife.

Darren Schuyler, 18, of Mashpee, was charged with breaking and entering at night time and burning personal property.

All three suspects were arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Wednesday and are being held pending a hearing on Thursday.
