Teen who choked mom's abusive ex-boyfriend not indicted

NEW YORK — The teenager who was accused of choking his mother's abusive ex-boyfriend to death will return to normal life after a grand jury declined to indict him.

Eighteen-year-old Luis Moux was facing a manslaughter in charge in connection to Stanley Washington's death in August, reports PIX11.

The teen told police he was Washington beating his mother inside their Bronx, New York apartment. Mouz ran out of his bedroom, pulled Washington off his mother and then started choking him, said police.

Washington had been previously arrested for domestic violence involving Moux's mother.

Moux was arrested shortly after the incident, with police saying it wasn't "cut and dry." He was charged with manslaughter. The teen's family maintained he was protecting his mother and it was defense.

Now with the grand jury deciding not to formally charge Moux, his attorney, Walter Fields, said the teen will move on with his life.

"It was clear that Luis didn’t do anything wrong. He testified in the grand jury and his story didn’t change a bit,” Walter Fields told the NY Daily News. "When you are an innocent man, you just want to move on with your life."
