Teen sexually assaulted while showering at Revere Beach bathhouse, police say

REVERE, Mass. — Massachusetts State Police are investigating the alleged sexual assault of a teenager while she was using a shower at a Revere Beach bathhouse Tuesday night.

The victim told investigators that the attacker, a young adult male, approached her while she was using an outdoor shower at the Shirley Avenue Bathhouse around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The man tried to initiate a personal conversation, and when the girl tried to get away he grabbed her, prevented her from leaving, and sexually assaulted her.

The girl was then able to get away from the assailant.

State police said she was at the beach with an adult family member at the time and reported what happened to that family member after they left the beach.

The family member brought the girl to the Massachusetts State Police Barracks on Revere Beach and reported the assault.

The girl was interviewed and then transported to a Boston hospital for examination.

SUSPECT DESCRIPTION

Police released a greater detailed description Wednesday afternoon. They said they believe the suspect is a light-skinned Hispanic man with his hair braided tightly against his scalp. He's about 6 feet tall with a slender build, said police. Prior to the assault, he may have been wearing a dark-colored tank top and black shorts and was riding a mountain bike near and on the beach.

At the time of the assault, he was wearing a bathing suit and no shirt.

Police said sometime before the assault, he was on the bike on the beach and was following a different young woman. He may have tried to speak with her.

The incident is under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call police.
