Teen injured after fireworks set off inside Abington apartment

ABINGTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A 17-year-old was transported to the hospital Thursday after police say he set off fireworks inside an Abington apartment.

The state bomb squad responded to the apartment on Woodlands Way and conducted a sweep. It was cleared by late Thursday night.

The teen was taken to Mass. General Hospital with injuries that are considered serious, but non-life threatening.

Abington's fire chief say the fireworks were commercial grade and extremely powerful. Officials have not said where they believe the teen got the fireworks.

Authorities say there was no fire or explosion and there was no damage to the building itself.
