Teen gets wish granted, will perform alongside Boston Pops

BOSTON — A 15-year-old tuba player will take the stage Friday as he plays alongside the Boston Pops.

Ryan McAvoy of Aledo, Texas has been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. When approached by the Make-A-Wish foundation, McAvoy said he wished to perform ontage with the orchestra.

McAvoy will play tuba during "A Merry Little Sing-Along" -- the sing-along concluding the Holiday Pops performance at around 5:30 p.m. McAvoy was able to have a private session with the Boston Symphony Orchestra's Principal Tuba, Mike Roylance, to prepare.

You can catch McAvoy's performance on Friday at Symphony Hall, 301 Massachusetts Avenue.
