Teen arrested, two officers injured in Lowell brawl


LOWELL, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Two police officers were injured while trying to break up a brawl involving 75 high school students in Lowell.

Officials say the fight occurred just before 3 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Cork and Cross streets.

Lowell Police Officer Tong Phay was reportedly punched in the face by a 15-year-old boy who would not cooperate with police. Officer Felix Concepcion tore a bicep while trying to subdue the teen.

The 15-year-old was charged with assaulting an officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. Both officers were transported to the hospital for treatment.
