Teen accused of threatening Nashua high school students on social media

NASHUA, N.H. — A 15-year-old New Hampshire boy has been arrested after he was accused of making threats against Nashua high school students, according to police.

Nashua police said they started receiving complaints just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday about threats on social media that were directed at the students. One of the threats was a video on Instagram showing a labeled box revealing a gun.

"When you actually see video of firearms, that's when it's like the equipment is right in front of him and he could pursue whatever he liked to," said Shelisa Raschella, a senior at Nashua high.

Some of the people notifying police said it appeared as though the threats were made against Nashua High School South as well as against two specific students.

One of the threats read: "You all thought I was joking. It's going to be really funny when you see me in the news tomorrow."

Nashua police said they immediately notified the Nashua School District and kept the superintendent informed about the investigation as it progressed.

Through the course of the investigation, police said they were able to identify a 15-year-old male student as the person who posted the threats on social media. The unidentified teen was arrested just after 11 p.m.

Police said they aren't sure if the teen shot the video of the gun himself, or he uploaded someone else's video.

The principal sent out a letter to parents explaining what happening and thanking police for the quick arrest.

An increased police presence has been requested at both high schools in Nashua.
