Teen accused of raping UMass student faces separate assault charge

(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – One of the Pittsfield teenagers accused of raping a UMass student is awaiting a trial on separate assault charges stemming from a reported hit-and-run incident that occurred in August 2011.

Adam Liccardi, 18, reportedly panicked when people surrounded his car and demanded money he owed them. He allegedly took off, striking a 33-year-old man who flipped onto the hood, over the roof, and onto the road, reports The Boston Herald.

According to the newspaper, Liccardi was freed on personal recognizance and is due to go on trial in February to face the assault and battery with a dangerous charge.

Liccardi along with 18-year-old Emmanuel Bile, 18-year-old Justin King, and 17-year-old Caleb Womack pleaded not guilty on Monday to gang raping an 18-year-old UMass student inside her dorm room on Oct. 13. The defendants remain jailed after a judge set their bail at $10,000 each.

According to court documents, the teens went to the victim's dorm room uninvited, and after both sides consumed alcohol, the defendants stripped the victim and raped her. Three of the teens reportedly left that night while the fourth teen remained and raped the victim a second time.
