Sen. Ted Cruz proposed Tuesday that money forfeited during the prosecution of drug lords like the kingpin Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman.
FOX Business reports that prosecutors are seeking $14 billion in forfeiture of illicit profits and other assets from Guzman.
"Build the wall and make El Chapo pay for it," Cruz tweeted.
The proposal specifies El Chapo and says the act would be called "Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order Act" or "EL CHAPO Act".
On Cruz's website, there is a petition and place to contribute to show support for the act.
