TAUNTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Taunton police are warning residents about a series of home break-ins during which the burglar has made physical contact with sleeping female victims.
Investigators say all of the house breaks have occurred in the area of Barnum, Clinton, and Winthrop streets.
All of the break-ins have taken place overnight. The burglar gains access through unlocked doors or windows and usually takes jewelry.
In each case, the suspect has approached a sleeping female victim in her bed and made contact, regardless of whether she is alone or not. The suspect reportedly sexually assaulted his most recent victim.
When confronted by one victim, the suspect said he was homeless and looking for food before escaping. He is described as a stocky, white man with dark hair and a light beard.
Residents are asked to remain vigilant and to lock their doors and windows.
Anyone with information is asked to call Taunton police at 508-821-1471.
