Taunton high school, middle school canceled Tues. after threatening note found

Taunton High School and Parker Middle School will be canceled Tuesday, May 22, 2018 due to a threatening note found Monday, school officials say.

According to the Taunton Public Schools Superintendent, a high school employee found a note at the end of the school day. Officials say the anonymous and threatening note warrants further investigation, prompting the cancellation of school Tuesday.

Taunton High School and Parker Middle School are the only two schools that will be canceled. There will also be no practices or after-school activities on Tuesday.

School officials say students will have to make up the day.

"Originally, THS students were only required to attend school for half-days during finals on the 21st and 22nd of June, 2018.  These days will now be full-days of school for all THS students."

Information for Parker Middle School will be sent out at a later date.

"As always, we are grateful for the swift response and the professionalism of the Taunton Police Department, as they work with us to keep our schools safe."
