FANORE, Ireland — A tag from a Massachusetts fishing boat has washed ashore in Ireland.
The Hannah Boden, which famously survived the 1991 storm that inspired the movie "The Perfect Storm", is still in operation today as a fishing boat. At last check, it was in New Bedford.
The Irish Examiner reports that beachcomber Liam MacNamara found a lobster pot tag from the Hannah Boden on Fanore Beach.
Liam McNamara contacted a member of the crew and confirmed it belonged to the vessel.
The tag traveled nearly 3,000 miles across the Atlantic and was likely lost 10 or 15 years ago.
