Suspect in Nashua standoff dies of self-inflicted wounds, police say

NASHUA, N.H. –Nashua police say the subject of a six-hour standoff died Friday night of apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Police were called to a home in the area of Auburn and Fletcher streets around 11:30 a.m. after a woman reported the suspect showed her a gun.

SWAT officers were called in a short time later.

Residents were told to avoid the area and several roads were closed during the police action.

“This neighborhood’s really quiet, everybody keeps to themselves mostly, so when you see like 10 cop cars you’re like what is going on?” neighbor Briana Mills said.

After more than eight hours, the suspect took his own life.

“You never want the outcome to be as it was tonight, you try to do everything in your power to encourage a positive resolution, and it’s not really a good night for anybody,” Police Chief Dennis Linehan said.

This is a breaking story, Boston 25 News reporter Litsa Pappas will have the latest details as they become available.
