Swampscott man charged fatal Charlestown hit-and-run

CHARLESTOWN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Swampscott man has been charged in a hit-and-run that killed a 30-year-old bicyclist in Charlestown Thursday.

The driver, 41-year-old Ricky Prezioso, was held on $5,000 cash bail Friday on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident after causing death.

Prezioso was located at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday after what police describe as an active and ongoing investigation.

The crash happened just after 1:30 p.m. at Cambridge and Spice streets in the Sullivan Square area of Charlestown.

Police say a white garbage truck hit a man on a bicyclist and left the scene.

Residents in the area say this happened in a dangerous intersection.
