Suspicious death under investigation in Billerica

BILLERICA, Mass. — A suspicious death investigation has rattled a Billerica neighborhood.

Police say someone discovered a man's body alongside a busy road and investigators have been canvassing the neighborhood in search of information.

Billerica police referred Boston 25 to the district attorney's office, which isn’t commenting on the investigation.

In the meantime, we know police have been working to identify that man and have called his death suspicious.

Investigators say a male body was found near Concord Road around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Neighbors tell us an ambulance took the body away as crime scene crews processed the side of the road and the nearby woods.

Neighbors told Boston 25 News detectives were canvassing the area, knocking on their doors early this morning.

“It was a policeman and he asked if I had, he told me there was a body found at the top of the hill and asked if I had heard or seen anything strange going on,” Lorraine Smith.

According to people who live in the area, police told them the body was likely dumped there.

Investigators say the case is still active, which is why they are releasing few details.
