Suspect wanted after 5 similar bank robberies around Methuen

METHUEN, Mass. — Police in several Essex County towns are investigating a string of recent bank robberies that may be connected.

Since July 6, there have been five bank robberies in Methuen, Lawrence and Haverhill where the suspect was described as a Hispanic male between 5-foot-6 and 6 feet tall with facial hair.

July 6, Santander Bank – 200 Haverhill St. Methuen
Just afternoon, the suspect entered the bank and demanded money from a teller saying he had a gun but never showing it. The suspect was wearing a striped button down shirt and an Adidas baseball hat and fled on foot.

July 25, Santander Bank - Lawrence
The suspect entered the bank carrying a black bag and passed a note to the teller demanding money. The suspect claimed to have gun but did not show it. The suspect was speaking both English and Spanish, wearing a green baseball hat and a blue and pink shirt. He was seen leaving the area on foot.

Aug. 9 Haverhill Bank – Haverhill
Around 11 a.m. the suspect entered the bank carrying a dark bag and passed a note to the teller. The suspect was speaking English and Spanish while wearing a green baseball hat. He was speaking English and Spanish and left the bank on foot. He was described as having a unique walk.

Aug. 11, People's United Bank – 9 Jackson St. Methuen
The suspect entered the bank around 12:20 p.m. and showed the teller a note demanding money. They note said the he had a gun, but during the attempted robbery he never showed a weapon. After being shown an empty cash drawer, the suspect fled on foot with no money. He was wearing a white button down shirt with a blue checker pattern and a dark baseball hat.

Aug. 16, People's United Bank – 148 Lowell St., Methuen
Just before noon, the suspect entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. He was wearing a red shirt, black pants and a black baseball hat, possibly with a wig underneath. The suspect fled the scene in a gray Nissan Sentra, possible built in the early 2000s.
