Suspect shot and killed by Boston police identified

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The man shot and killed in the South End Saturday after allegedly pulling knives on police officers was identified Tuesday.

Boston Police identified the suspect as 38-year-old Remis Andrews of Boston.

At about 3:09 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a domestic violence call on Lenox Street for the report of a woman being assaulted by her boyfriend.

When police officers tried to place the suspect, Andrews, under arrest, he armed himself with multiple knives and lunged at the officers causing one to open fire, a police official said. Andrews was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Boston Police Firearms Investigation Team and the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office are still investigating the incident.
