Suspect killed in Dorchester home invasion identified

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Boston police have identified a suspect that was fatally shot during an apparent home invasion.

Police responded to 85 Esmond Street at about 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 15 and found one man on the ground in front of the building suffering from a gunshot wound. The man, identified as 20-year-old Jordan Chinapoo, of Roxbury, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers also arrested 18-year-old Cedric Slayden, of Boston, following the incident on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said the two men were armed and wearing masks when they entered an apartment in the building.

The man who fired the shots was taken into custody. Police were trying to determine if his actions were justified.

An investigation is ongoing.
