Suspect in Wrentham dragging death indicted by grand jury

WRENTHAM, Mass. (AP) - A pickup truck driver from Norwood charged with dragging a Wrentham hotel worker to her death has been indicted by a Norfolk County grand jury.

Prosecutors say 22-year-old Moses Acloque was indicted on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident causing death, moving the case to Superior Court. No arraignment date has been set.

Police say Acloque struck Arbor Inn employee Kanchanben Patel in the parking lot and dragged her three miles up U.S. Route 1 to her death last November.

He is free on $3,000 bail after pleading not guilty to related charges in district court.

His lawyer says Acloque was scared because hotel workers were assaulting him and had no idea he was dragging anyone.

The death remains under investigation.
