Suspect in Mass. bar slaying caught in Ohio

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Police say a man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting at a Massachusetts bar has been captured in Ohio.

Springfield police say Chase Johnson was taken into custody Thursday at an apartment complex in Dayton, Ohio, following an anonymous tip that he was there.

Johnson is wanted in connection with the July 18 slaying of 24-year-old Eddiz Walter of Holyoke at Duck's Place in Springfield.

Capt. Trent Duda says Johnson and Walter had some sort of confrontation in the bar a few days earlier, which reignited the night of the shooting.

Walter was struck in the back by several shots and died at the hospital.

Police say they expect Johnson will have a rendition hearing in Ohio next week. It was not clear if he had a lawyer.
